Truss Tomatoes

Truss tomatoes are sold on the vine or “truss” the longer a tomato is left on the vine, the sweet and tastier it is. Use a pair of scissors to remove a tomato from the truss. 

Ideal for: An accompaniment with fish, eggs and cheese. Other things that go well with this variety of tomato is olive oil, vinegar, garlic, oregano, basil or ginger.

Nutrition:

High in lycopene, which research suggests may reduce the risk of prostate, pancreatic and cervical cancer. Also a good source of Vitamin C and E, folate & dietary fibre.

Store: Keep on the truss at room temperature until bright red. Or refrigerate for up to two days, then remove an hour before use as the flavour of tomato is best enjoyed at room temperature
